Managing Private Jobs

Private jobs are run on a specific node and use no clustering facilities. To manage private jobs, use the job private commands, all of which require the advanced privilege level or higher.

Displaying Information about Private Jobs

The job private show command displays the following information about private jobs:

  • Node name

  • Job ID

  • Job name

  • Job priority

  • Job description

Variants of the job private show command display different views of job information. These variants are described in the following sections. See the reference pages for the commands for more detailed descriptions.

Displaying Information about Completed Private Jobs

The job private show-completed command displays the following information about completed private jobs:

  • Node name

  • Job ID

  • Job name

  • End time

  • Status code

  • Completion string

Displaying Information about the Progress of Private Jobs

The job private show-progress command displays the following information about the progress of private jobs:

  • Node name

  • Job ID

  • Job name

  • Progress status

Displaying Information about Private Jobs that Are Waiting on Other Jobs

The job private show-waiton command displays the following information about private jobs that cannot run until another job runs:

  • Node name

  • ID of the waiting private job

  • Name of the waiting private job

  • ID of the job that the waiting job is waiting on

  • Name of the job that the waiting job is waiting on

Monitoring a Private Job's Progress

The job private watch-progress command enables you to monitor a job's progress. When you run the command, you the specify the node on which the job is running, the job that is to be monitored and the frequency of the updates. When the command is run, it continues to report progress on the job until the job has ended or been terminated, or until you interrupt the job private watch-progress command. The following example monitors the progress of a private job on a node named node0a that has the ID 9; the progress is updated every ten seconds.

node:*> job private watch-progress -node node0a -id 9 -interval 10

Pausing a Private Job

To pause a running private job, use the job private pause command. The following example pauses a job with the ID 6 on a node named node1b:

node:*> job private pause -node node1b -id 6
Resuming a Paused Private Job

To resume a paused job, use the job resume command. The following example resumes a job with the ID 6 on a node named node1b:

node:*> job private resume -node node1b -id 6

Stopping a Private Job

To stop a job permanently, use the job stop command. A stopped job cannot be restarted. The following example stops a job with the ID 8 on a node named node1a:

node:*> job private stop -node node1a -id 8

Deleting a Private Job

The job private delete command deletes a private job. Deleting a private job stops any current instances of the job as well as any future instances. The following example deletes a job that has the ID 5 on a node named node0a:

node:*> job private delete -node node0a -id 5
